Undecenoic Acid to Get Rid of Candida

If you are like many candida sufferers, you are  searching desperately for a solution to this health hampering issue.  Have you heard that undecenoic acid may be an effective treatment?  If so,  you probably have undecenoic-acid-insert1questions about the product, its effectiveness and its safety.

What is Undecenoic Acid?

Undecenoic acid is a natural fatty acid derived from castor oil.   It  is often used in topical treatments for fungal conditions such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm and psoriasis. It is produced  for commercial use  by a vacuum distilling process of castor oil.

Undecenoic acid is also found in human sweat.  Knowing that human sweat is purported to inhibit fungus growth, researchers at John Hopkins University tested the anti fungal activity of each of the fatty acids  in human sweat and determined the the most detrimental to fungi growth proved to be undecenoic acid.

How Undecenoic Acid Aids in Curing Candida

As you probably know, candida is caused by the overgrowth of the naturally occurring fungus Candida Albicans that is found in the human body.  When the body is producing candida Albicans  too rapidly, the fungi begins to produce tube-like roots called hyphae, which then burrow into the intestinal wall lining, causing damage and allowing toxins to leak into the bloodstream.  It is believed that undecenoic acid interferes with the fatty acid biosynthesis of the hyphae, making it difficult for the candida Albicans to effectively form hyphae.  Without hyphae, the overcrowded candida are no longer able to burrow for food and they begin to starve to death.

Using Undecenoic Acid to Treat Candida

A variety of topical applications containing undecenoic acid are available if you need to treat skin issues brought on by candida or other fungi.  Many candida sufferers, however, benefit from ingesting undecenoic acid to attack the candida problem from the inside out.

When it is to be used orally, undecenoic acid is usually dispensed in a capsule.  The usual dosage for an adult is 450 - 750 mg daily, given in three divided doses. Taken in the recommended dosage, undecenoic acid is usually quite safe.  It is recommended, however, that the capsules not be opened and mixed in food or drink because of its strong odor and disagreeable taste.

Undecenoic acid has very few, if any,  side effects and is available from several manufacturers.

Is Undecenoic Acid Alone Enough to Cure Candida?

It is never easy to rid yourself of a stubborn condition such as candida.  There are several steps that can be taken to help get the problem under control, including a candida diet but anti fungal agents such as undecenoic acid also play an important role in its treatment.

Some  candida experts feel that although undecenoic acid is a very effective anti fungal agent in the battle against candida, it may not be enough to solve the problem by itself - not because it doesn’t work but because Candida Albicans are quick to become resistant to toxins meant to kill them.  Many naturopathic physicians recommend that undecenoic acid be taken in combination or rotation with other supplements, such as garlic and caprylic acid.  This will give the candida fungi less opportunity to form immunities against the treatment.

If you suffer from candida, undecenoic acid is certainly worth learning more about.  Many people who have suffered from candida have found it to be a big part of their healing process.
