Do you think you may have Candida? Before you start on a strict diet routine or take a probiotic, it’s a good idea to
complete a test to find out for sure that Candida is the source of your problems. Sometimes what you consider could be the symptoms of Candida could actually be the effects of other illnesses. First of all, make a list of your symptoms, not matter how small or large they may be. Compare these to the symptoms of Candida, how many of these are matching?
There are several ways to test yourself for Candida - from simple home tests to hospital blood tests, there are many ways to find out if Candida is the cause of your illness. Some tests are more reliable than others, but some may be better suited to your lifestyle.
Testing Yourself For Candida at Home
The most simple way of testing yourself for Candida can be done at home using the candida spit test. First thing in the morning before you have had anything to eat or drink pour a glass of water. Spit into the glass and let it sitĀ for one hour. If the saliva floats you have a healthy digestive system. If it sinks to the bottom there is a possibility that you have a yeast infection. If there are slight strings growing from the saliva then you definitely have a yeast infection within your digestive system.
Of course, this simple home test is not a surefire way of testing for Candida. There are some other more accurate ways of testing.
The Candida Swab Test
A vaginal swab, usually taken by a doctor, can detect the presence of Candida. The problem here is that the test in only effective in about 40% of Candida cases as the yeast infection must be present in the vagina. This is a good option though for those who suffer from thrush. Results take about three weeks to receive.
The Candida Blood Test
The presence of Candida can also be detected in the blood. If you have a fear of needles and are reeling at just the mention of it, stop worrying. The test is usually done with just a pin prick on the thumb or finger. Test results are available within just a few minutes. The test can be administered by medical practitioners. This is one of the most reliable and fastest ways of testing for Candida.
If you discover that you are suffering from Candida, don’t worry there is plenty you can do. Start with a good probiotic, like mentioned previously in this post.
