A recent article in NaturalNews outlined studies about the use of a natural olive leaf extract to treat candida. The problem is familiar. Just as bacteria eventually grow resistant to antibiotics, candida can eventually grow resistant to antifungal drugs. When that happens, it becomes more important than ever before to turn to natural remedies.
Enter the olive leaf. Modern natural health practitioners have only been studying the use of the olive leaf in healing for about 12 years although its roots in medicine can be traced back to the mid 60’s or 70’s. As a matter of fact, there is evidence that the olive leaf was used in foreign studies in an attempt to find a better treatment for both bacteria and virus strains.
So why does it work? The olive leaf contains a compound known as oleuropein and, when ingested, the enzymes inside the body convert it into elolenic acid - a substance that can effectively kill viruses, bacteria, and fungi like candida.
Olive leaf extract is considered to be safe and non-toxic and has very few known side effects. The only drawback, as with many candida medications, is the drawback symptoms that individuals develop as the candida within their bodies begins to die off. Though we suppose a few flu-like symptoms are a lot easier to deal with than a lifetime of fatigue and weight gain caused by candida!
