Are You Constantly Lightheaded? You May Have Candida

Feeling lightheaded is a scary, uncomfortable sensation.  You may feel like you’re going to faint, experience nausea or even vomit when you’re lightheaded.  Sometimes it creates a swimming feeling in your head, almost similar to the feeling you get when you’ve consumed too much alcohol.  Although there are many things that can cause you to feel lightheaded, if you are experiencing this lightheaded feeling frequently and cannot find the cause, you may want to look into the possibility that you suffer from candida.

Why Candida Causes Lightheadedness

At first you may think it’s quite a stretch to believe that a little, yeast-like fungus called Candida Albicans that is usually found in your intestinal track could be the cause of  constant lightheadedness.  Most people  first suspect an inner ear infection, low blood pressure or some other common cause.  Many people who have suffered frequent lightheadedness have gone from doctor to doctor, having a variety of tests performed, only to find the physicians could not pinpoint the cause of their problems.  Many of those same people, fortunately,  have since discovered that the cause was actually candida and have managed to eliminate the lightheadedness by treating the candida.

So why does candida cause you to feel lightheaded?  Candida has many effects on the body and produces myriad symptoms, including  lightheadedness and dizziness.  This usually happens when the candida has progressed far enough to create a condition known as leaky gut syndrome.  Leaky gut syndrome happens when the naturally occurring fungus Candida Albicans found in our intestinal tracks explodes in population, becoming crowded and hungry.

When that happens the fungi begin to produce long, burrowing roots called hyphae.  As a result, these hyphae penetrate the intestinal wall, creating small holes which allow particles that should have been eliminated from the body after digestion to leak into the bloodstream.  Now you have bits of partially digested food and toxins being mainlined into your bloodstream and your body begins to fight back against this threat by producing antibodies, often producing allergic type reactions, including lightheadedness.

Candida’s Byproducts:  Ethanol and Acetaldehyde

Two of  the toxins that are being allowed into your bloodstream are powerful yeast byproducts:  ethanol and acetaldehyde (yes, ethanol, the same thing used as an alternative fuel for engines).  These two toxins have several effects on your cells, including making it difficult for red blood cells to pass into capillaries.  This can be one of the main causes of your lightheadedness.

Another effect is that insulin cannot function properly and you develop hypoglycemia, another condition that can cause lightheadedness.

These byproducts also may cause minerals to struggle to pass through cell walls and result in an electrolyte imbalance and, you guessed it, lightheadedness may occur.

Have You Noticed Other Symptoms?

Although candida’s symptoms are not all as obvious as lightheadedness, you may want to ask yourself  if you have any other signs of candida.  Have you noticed that the effects of alcohol consumption are quicker and more potent than normal?  Are you tired, foggy headed or dealing with bouts of constipation or diarrhea?  You may want to compare your symptoms with some of the most common symptoms of candida.

If you and your doctor have been unable to come up with any other plausible reason for your lightheadedness, you may want to do further research on the topics of candida and leaky gut syndrome.  Unfortunately many mainstream doctors do not recognize candida, treating only its symptoms instead,  but there is an abundance of helpful information available in books, online and from naturopathic doctors.  There are effective treatments which range from antifungal medications to the anti-candida diet.  If you are looking for a cure for your lightheadedness, you owe it to yourself to investigate a possible candida connection.
