How to Avoid Candida Albican Infections

Avoiding CandidaCandida overgrowth, also known as Candida Albican, is a serious condition that affects millions of individuals around the world every year. While many believe that Candida simply refers to the vaginal yeast infection in women, Candida is really much more. It can affect the entire body - in both men and women - causing serious health complications and side effects.

There are a number of things you can do to avoid Candida overgrowth. Most are relatively small life changes that anyone can make. Consider the following.

Avoiding Candida: Eat Less Sugar

The first and most important consideration to make when attempting to avoid Candida overgrowth is the amount of sugar and yeast based products you eat. Yeast grows when it is exposed to sugar. The more junk food, cake, and candy you eat the higher your chances of developing a serious Candida overgrowth infection. We’re not saying you have to cut sugar out of your diet 100% but are suggesting you seriously monitor your intake. Once developed, a Candida overgrowth infection can be very difficult to treat and eliminate.

Avoiding Candida: Stop Abusing Antibiotics

Many people rush to the doctor upon first sign of a cold or illness and ask for an antibiotic treatment. Antibiotics are one of the most over-prescribed medications available on the market today. While typically only necessary for bacterial infections, they are often given to patients who really only have a viral infection.

The problem with antibiotics is that they do not know the difference between good and bad bacteria. This means that while your antibiotics is killing off the bad bacteria that is making you ill, it’s also killing off the good bacteria that generally keeps the levels of Candida in your body in check.

Unfortunately, lots of people get small Candida infections after taking an antibiotic. Women frequently complain of vaginal yeast infections, for example. Taking antibiotics frequently, especially when you don’t really need them, essentially turns your body into a playground for Candida growth.

If you must take an antibiotic, make sure you take probiotics at the same time. Probiotics will help to keep the levels of good bacteria in your body stable as you kill off the bad and fight your bacterial infection.

Avoiding Candida: Eat Foods that Prevent Fungal Growth

Another way to avoid Candida, or candidiasis, is to eat foods that prevent the growth of yeast. Scientists believe that garlic is one of the best foods for this purpose. You can use minced garlic in your food, eat raw cloves, or even put minced garlic inside gel capsules. If this is the case you can simply purchase a garlic pills in tablet form from your local pharmacy.

Additional Tips for Preventing Candida

There are a few other things you can do to prevent a Candida overgrowth in your body as well. Limiting your alcohol intake, or eliminating it altogether, is incredibly important because alcohol always converts to sugar and gives Candida a perfect place to grow. Eating dairy products that have been enhanced with acidophilus (or probiotics as mentioned earlier) can help to fight off Candida as well.

Candidiasis can cause significant health complications if left untreated. It’s easier to make a few simple changes to your lifestyle to avoid Candida altogether than it is to attempt to treat a serious overgrowth - guaranteed!
